Topping up an exchange account with pesos: checking every step before you pay

Guides · 2026-10-14

For most people in the Philippines, the first real hurdle with crypto is not choosing a coin but getting pesos into an exchange account. The available methods change from time to time and differ between Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget, ranging from card purchases to bank or e-wallet transfers and peer-to-peer markets. Rather than promising any specific route will be open to you, this guide explains the checks that apply to all of them, so that whatever option the app shows, your money arrives where it should.

Start from the deposit or buy screen

Open the app and tap Deposit or Buy Crypto, then choose PHP as the currency. The list of methods shown is the current one for your account; anything not listed there should not be trusted, even if a friend says it worked last year. Each method shows a processing note and a fee or rate summary. Read it on the screen at the time rather than relying on blog posts, since these details are updated without notice.

Match names and references exactly

Bank and e-wallet transfers usually need to come from an account in the same name as your verified exchange profile. Payments from a relative's account are a common reason for delays or returns. If the instructions show a reference code, copy it into the transfer note exactly, with no extra words. Take a screenshot of the instruction page before leaving the app, and another of your bank confirmation once sent.

Using peer-to-peer safely

In P2P markets, choose sellers with a long completion record and read their terms before ordering. Pay only through the payment method listed in the order, and only after the order is open on the platform, which places the seller's crypto in escrow. Never mark an order as paid before the money has actually left your account. If a counterparty asks to continue on a messaging app or to change the amount, cancel and report through the order page.

When the deposit has not arrived

Check the order or deposit history first; a pending status means it is still being processed. Compare your screenshots for reference, amount and name. If the stated processing time has passed, open support from the help centre inside the app and attach the bank receipt. Avoid repeating the payment while the first is unresolved, which can complicate any refund.
